American Needlepoint Guild Needlepoint Correspondence Courses taught by Sandy Arthur
Sandy currently has three (3) correspondence courses offered by the American Needlepoint Guild. ANG members are able to sign up for participation in these classes through the ANG website. Individual links are provided here for each specific class. Correspondence courses vary in length according to what the teacher has designated. Also, classes may or may not offer optional kits. General classes include the lessons involved. Some classes may include the canvas, others may require them to be purchased separately or provided by the student. Threads and other supplies may or may not be offered separately or may need to be provided by the student.
Wabbit Whimsey Bunny and Easter Basket Needlepoint Stand Ups
Thoughts of Spring conjure up visions of Daffodils and bunnies. Make your very own representation of Spring to add a cheerful display to your décor.
The stand-up bunny and basket may be used as a candy dish, flower container or even colored eggs.
Stitches and techniques include Scotch and Mosaic Combination, Continental, Boxed Pavilion, Victorian Step, Byzantine, Couching, Criss-Cross Hungarian, Cross-Stitch, Upright Cross, Padded Satin, Stem, Fern, Encroaching, Upright, Slanted and Diagonal Gobelin, Medieval Mat, Woven Picot Needleweaving, Buttonhole, Colonial Knot, and Binding.
Stumpwork Daffodils will be created on fabric using Long-and-Short and Buttonhole stitches.
Unique threads suggested are Vineyard Silk (3 colors), Medici, Kreinik Braid (2), Tweed (2), Fuzzy Stuff (2), Bravo, Size 5 Pearl Cotton (5), Ribbon Floss, Petite Velvet, Cotton Floss (2), Splendor Silk (3 shades) , Dimin, and Shimmer.
Wabbit Whimsey is a fun class that has two line-drawn 18 ct. canvases for a sweet bunny rabbit and wonderful basket container.
Detailed lessons with excellent diagrams are also included in the sign-up fee. A full thread kit is optional. This class covers a time period of 6 months.

Delivering Dreams Santa Claus Needlepoint Stand-Up
Santa can be completed as a stand alone and is a great companion piece to Sleigh Full of Dreams.
Kit includes a wonderful mixture of threads: cotton floss, Silk ‘N Ivory, Kreinik braids, metallic ribbons, Marlitt, Ribbon Floss, Caron Snow, and silks.
Stitches include several combination stitches including Diagonal Mosaic, Criss-Cross Hungarian, Packed Stem Stitch, Diagonal and Horizontal Knit, Horizontal Oblong Cross, Giant Brick, Medival Mat, Parisian, Van Dyke, Beaty Variation, and other familiar stitches.
Techniques include using a laying tool to aid in achieving excellent results for a beautifully executed piece, dimensional stitches and manipulation of threads.
Delivering Dreams is a class for a stand-alone Santa Claus. The kit fee includes a line-drawn 18 ct. canvas and detailed lessons and excellent diagrams. An optional thread kit is available. This class covers a time period of 6 months.

Sleigh Full of Dreams Needlepoint Stand Up
Sleigh Full of Dreams is a class for a stand-alone sleigh full of gift packages.
Create a beautiful addition to holiday decorations by stitching this lovely sleigh. Create a realistic-looking blanket, make funky bows for unique packages, provide depth and dimension through padding with thread and cord and learn new stitches along the way.
Execute a variety of stitches including combination, Gobelin variations, Brick, Lora Standish Variation, and many more. Appropriate compensation will be discussed.
Suggested threads include cotton floss, metallics, metallic ribbons, Ribbon Floss, and silks.
Techniques include using a laying tool to aid in achieving excellent results for a beautifully executed piece, various padding techniques and manipulation of threads.
