Dogwood Elegance Box Top
Needlepoint Design by Sandy Arthur
Dogwood Elegance is a box top that is stitched in a variation of the Phulkhari stitch. This is an ancient technique attributed to India.
Threads used to achieve this technique include Rainbow Gallery Fiesta, which adds a rich luster to the box top, Splendor silks in two colors, and Very Velvet which gives a deep elegance to the design.
Well illustrated diagrams which include a master diagram and individual diagram of centerpiece, enable this design to be accomplished quickly.
This design is stitched on 18 count Zweigart monocanvas. Other fabrics that can easily be used include Zweigart Aida 18 or congress cloth.
The design area is 8" x 8".
Dogwood Elegance is displayed in a beautiful cherry/mahogany hardwood box distributed by Sudberry House. This piece is easily expanded by adding additional rows and is just as beautiful when used as a purse insert, pillow top, or framed picture.
